A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Entrepreneurs' Day!  When you think about it, the world is crammed with great products that we took for granted, but that were once non-existent until they were somehow dreamed up by a budding entrepreneur.  From the postage stamp to the jet engine, and the cheeseburger to the microchip, radical inventions by brilliant minds have changed the way we live our lives and shape our futures.  In recognition of these people, you can now celebrate Entrepreneurship Day which, since its inauguration in 2010, is an annual event that honors those men and women who have very often created an empire from absolutely nothing, most of them making themselves rather wealthy in the process as well.  America is a country made of entrepreneurs. Men and women who built something from nothing. Created jobs. Made America what it is today. In many ways, the present was built by them.  We can genuinely hope that the next generation of potential Walt Disneys, Bill Gates’es, Mark Zuckerbergs, and Coco Chanel might be inspired to launch their business model and take the world by storm by the stories of some of the greatest businessmen and women of our time.

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Adoption Day!  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to adopt a child? Videos on social media report all the time about children and the surprising reveal of their finalized adoption to a new family. However, this doesn’t always occur. It takes approximately 3 years for a child to be finalized for an adoption. Because it doesn’t happen often enough, Adoption day is a day created to bring awareness of these facts. So, let’s now learn about Adoption Day and how it helps children all over the United States find new families.

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is I Love to Write Day!  Writing is not just for acclaimed authors. After all, they had to start somewhere too, and even though it may seem hard to believe, every famous writer started the first chapter of their first book with just one word. I Love to Write day was founded by author John Riddle, a non-fiction and self-help writer, to get kids writing in schools and encourage adults to rekindle an old dream.  This special day is celebrated by many different organizations – schools, community halls, churches, and even shopping centers. It covers all genres, from novels to poetry to writing into your local newspaper with a point you’ve always wanted to make but never found time for before.  The aim is to get people to sit down and put something on paper or on a computer, however short and in whatever style, kick-starting their writing and giving them confidence through being part of a global movement.

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day!  Every day is a new lap in the rat race, and sometimes we get so caught up in that that we lace ourselves in a little tight. Things have to go ‘just so’ and if things get out of whack we start to lose our minds a little. Routine and precision are definitely useful traits in certain situations, but Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day reminds us that sometimes, we just have to let go and enjoy the chaos that life brings us with a smile.

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Kindness Day!  Today is a day about the little gestures of kindness too. Helping others can restore a sense of humanity, not to mention giving you that warm fuzzy glow inside.  Kindness Day was born when a collection of humanitarian groups came together on November 13, 1997 and made a “Declaration of Kindness”. Likewise, on Kindness Day everyone is encouraged to make a similar declaration. Donating books, food or clothes to your local community is a great way to celebrate. However, pledging to commit just one act of kindness is no less worthwhile: hold the door open for a stranger, compliment your neighbor on their collection of garden gnomes, let your sibling have control of the TV remote for the evening.  However you decide to celebrate remember that the best thing about Kindness Day is that it doesn’t cost a thing!

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Chicken Soup for the Soul Day!  There are some books that are written to see you through the darkest days, to help shine light through the ponderous pitch-black clouds of the sky that hangs overhead. The Chicken Soup For The Soul series of books was produced explicitly for that purpose. Many are the readers who have had this book by their side as they do their best to live through the worst days of their life, and it’s all thanks to Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen that these books came to light. Chicken Soup For The Soul Day celebrates the light these two men have shed into the lives of others through this much-needed series of books.

So if you love the art of folding paper and creating beautiful creations from paper, cloth, dollar bills, napkins, or anything that’ll hold a crease, Origami Day is for you!

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Use Common Sense Day!  Every day we see complete fails of Common Sense, ridiculous and fantastic examples of the horror that can occur when someone just… refuses… to think. Sometimes it’s a matter of hubris, people thinking that their over-inflated sense of self-importance can overcome the laws of physics. Other times it’s just a complete failure to take a moment to really think a thing through, and thus do something monumentally stupid.  Let’s take for example the USPS service letter that indicates if you can’t speak English, or fail to understand the letter, to take it to the local post office. How precisely would they know to do that? The simplest way of celebrating Use Your Common Sense Day is to simply do what’s on the tin. Namely, use your common sense! Take a little more time to stop and consider your options before acting on impulse. Before you decide that something is a good idea, be sure to stop, take a breath, and look it over and make sure you aren’t about to become an object lesson.

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Love Your Red Hair Day!  It is the symbol of a fiery personality that is ruled by its passions, a strong-headed person who knows what they want and how to get it. They say the fire inside matches the fire of the hair, and to many red hair is the very definition of what it means to be Irish. Rumors have abounded throughout history to describe and define the redhead, but if you are one, Love Your Red Hair Day is the time to truly love your red hair.

  • Today is Candy Corn Day!  You either love it or hate it, there’s little variance between the two. Candy Corn, some describe it as waxy and sickeningly sweet, and others just can’t seem to get enough of this seasonal treat. Whether handed out in small packets at Halloween or served in heaping bowls on grandma’s table, Candy Corn is an icon of the season, and you know that Autumn is here when it starts showing up.
