A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Universal Children's Day!  You’ve heard so many people say it: children are the future. And whether you yourself have children or not, that still rings true. Today’s children are tomorrow’s scientists, politicians, doctors and teachers. Today’s children will inherit all of what humanity has managed to accomplish since the beginning of its existence, both the good and honorable deeds and the cruel wars and terrible failures. It is the children of today that will be charged with protecting the weak and vulnerable of this world, and making even the hardest of decisions in order to do so. Who then, if not our children, deserves a holiday? This special day is dedicated to all of the children, so that they may enjoy these carefree years while they last and be ready for the responsibilities that await them. So let’s live it up, kids!

Today's Bit of Inspiration:
  • "Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you'll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you'll find that you have more of it".                     - Ralph Marston

Have a magnificent Tuesday!!!

This Week in Sports:
  • Next week there is only one game.  The Boy's Basketball Team plays Bryan Middle School here at home on Tuesday, November 20th.

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is International Day for Tolerance.  This day was created to encourage mindfulness and faith in human rights – in order to encourage equality and diversity across the world, the UN introduced The International Day for Tolerance in 1996.  There’s no doubt that a world free of tolerance would not be a good place to be. It is the belief of those supporting this day that such a world should never exist – and that everyone has a right to their expression, religion, and their conscience without fear of bias or ridicule. In addition, it teaches that a persons racial or religious background is inconsequential to the potential for tolerance and friendship between them.

Today's Bit of Inspiration:

Have a fantastic Friday!!!

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is America Recycles Day!  If you have ever looked at the landfills, you’ll see countless amounts of waste that pollute the earth and the surrounding neighborhoods. If that makes you want to cry, then there is one option of many that give you the opportunity to initiate change in your life and others. America Recycles Day is just that day to take a pledge to recycle your used products and piling waste. If you care about the earth and hope to eventually stop the destruction of it, then let’s learn about America Recycles Day.

Today's Bit of Inspiration:
  • “The power of can’t: The word ‘can’t’ makes strong people weak, blinds people who can see, saddens happy people, turns brave people into cowards, robs a genius of their brilliance, causes rich people to think poorly, and limits the achievements of that great person living inside us all.” – Robert T. Kiyosaki

Have a terrific Thursday!!!

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day. Every day is a new lap in the rat race, and sometimes we get so caught up in that that we lace ourselves in a little tight. Things have to go ‘just so’ and if things get out of whack we start to lose our minds a little. Routine and precision are definitely useful traits in certain situations, but Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day reminds us that sometimes, we just have to let go and enjoy the chaos that life brings us with a smile.

Today's Bit of Inspiration:
  • “Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn very briefly.” – Stephen R. Covey

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is World Kindness Day!  Today we are encouraged to spread kindness like an infectious cold. We want to share it more than usual because studies show when others observe kindness in action they are more likely to carry out an act of kindness, too.  So, imagine if you head out for the day and your neighbor’s garbage can has tipped over. Instead of ignoring it and letting the wind make a mess, you pick it up and return it to the corner. Three other neighbors notice and give you a smile and a nod on their way to work.  One of those neighbors notices a stranded driver on the side of the road on his commute to work. He remembers your thoughtfulness and offers assistance to the stranded driver. Several passersby take notice.

At a business office, a woman struggles with a paper jam. She’s had a horrible day. The customer has been waiting, but she remembers the stranded driver she passed earlier in the day. The customer lets the office worker know to take her time. Everyone has a bad day.

We each have the potential to improve each others lives through understanding and kindness. Whether it’s a friend, family member, coworker or stranger, our ability to show our humanity should have no limit.

Today's Bit of Inspiration:
  • “Too  often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a  listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all  of which have the potential to turn a life around.”
    Leo Buscaglia

Have a terrific Tuesday!!!

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Chicken Soup for the Soul Day!  Taking its name from the inspirational book series Chicken Soup for the Soul, this holiday is about reflecting on and celebrating where you've been and where you are headed. According to multiple online sources, the publisher of the book series, Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing, has said the day is "...a celebration of who you are, where you've been, where you're going, and who you will be thankful to when you get there!"

Today's Bit of Inspiration:
  • “Keep in mind that part of growing up is dealing with difficult issues, and the benefits can be great if you have the courage to ask for help. Human beings are not designed to go through life alone. No one has to bear the burden of tough times all by themselves.”
    Jack Canfield

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is World Freedom Day!   In many parts of the world, freedom is something that is taken for granted—the freedom to choose any religion we want (or no religion at all), the freedom to be in a relationship with the person we love, the freedom to travel…the list goes on. Unfortunately, there are many, many places in the world where these freedoms are not available to most people, who are forced to live empty, unfulfilling lives so the rulers of their countries don’t have them thrown in jail or worse. If you don’t know what it means to be afraid to voice your opinion, then you can consider yourself very lucky to live in a place where liberty is a priority as well as a basic human right. And like all good things, liberty should be celebrated, and that’s what World Freedom Day is all about.

Today's Bit of Inspiration:
  • “For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others."  - Nelson Mandela

Have a fabulous Friday!!!

Whether you’re trying to spend the most time hovering a table tennis ball over your mouth (6.35 seconds is the current record) or spend the longest time holding your breath (22 minutes, held by Stig Severinsen) Guinness World Record Day encourages you to stretch the ends of human endurance and creativity, and set that new world record!

  • A Little Randomness:
    • Today is Stress Awareness Day! Stress can be a real killer, both in the workplace and in our day to day lives. Stress serves a solid purpose in human biology, but our modern lives have brought about a surplus of causes that haunt us from day to day. When we are faced with a challenge, or a threat to our well-being, the body experiences stress. Whether you’re dealing with a job that puts you under tremendous pressure, or face struggles in your life or relationship that leave you in a state of constant worry, stress can be a real killer. Stress Awareness Day was set aside as time to be aware of the stress in our lives and how it affects us.

    Today's Bit of Inspiration:
    • Invent your world. Surround yourself with people, color, sounds, and work that nourish you.”
      – Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy
