It is so versatile.  Pizza is eaten for breakfast (often cold), lunch, dinner and as a late night snack. It is a very popular food for parties and events.  You can put all sorts of meats, vegetables, fruits, and even fish...anchovies...on your pizza. But, today, is reserved for a pepperoni pizza, the most popular variety.  Here is some interesting trivia on the ever popular pizza:
    • Pepperoni is the most popular, preferred by 36% of the people.
    • Over 3 Billion pizzas are sold n the U.S. each year.
    • More pizzas are sold on Super Bowl Sunday, than any other day of the year.
    • Halloween is the second most popular day for eating pizzas.
    • Over 17% of restaurants are pizzerias, or serve pizza.
    • The first pizza was sold in Naples Italy in 1738.
    • Pizzas most likely evolved as a variation of flatbreads.
    • Americans consume over 23 pounds of pizza per year.

Celebrate National Cheeseburger Day by firing up the grill, and cooking cheeseburgers. You can do so for lunch or dinner.... or both! Any kind of cheese will do. Try a different cheese, if your adventuresome.

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is Citizenship Day!  This day celebrates being a citizen of the United States of America, the greatest country the world has ever seen. Our great country (and it's people ....you!) is something every American should be proud of.    America is filled with outstanding citizens, many of whom have played a direct or indirect role in making this country and what it stands for, a beacon of hope, promise and success!   This special day is for all citizens, both native born, and those who chose to become Americans. It is a day to be proud to be an American. It is a day to appreciate being a citizen of this country and the rights and freedoms it brings. We suggest American citizens never take for granted the rights, freedoms, and privileges afforded us, as citizens of the United States of America.

We suggest today, and every day, you express your citizenship in some way. It's the sum of all of the actions and deeds by famous and "ordinary" citizens, that makes this country so great.

To each and every American citizen, we wish you a very Happy Citizenship Day!

Rather, it was invented in California.  To celebrate this day, go grab a handful of fortune cookies.  Or, get your fill online.  Check it out at  http://www.myfortunecookie.co.uk

A Little Randomness:
  • Today is National Read a Book Day!  Break out your reading glasses and favorite mug of hot coffee!  Some people just can’t stop reading, but  most of us tend to put reading on the back burner with other “maybe  later” activities like hitting the gym or cleaning the oven.  Life can definitely get in the way of our reading time, but National Read a Book  Day is the perfect opportunity to make some time in your life to read.  Whether you’re a sci-fi fanatic, a non-fiction buff, or a not-so-often  reader, there is a book out there just for you. This holiday literately reminds us that entertainment isn’t limited to what you can watch on a screen or hear through your speakers. Books can bring whole new worlds to life, not to mention shed light on world events and share perspectives on the human experience in a way that other mediums just can’t. In a world of increasing technology and screen-based communication, National Read a Book Day encourages us to switch off and turn the pages for a while.  Visit Monroe's library today!
