Book Blasters
Book Blasters is a reading competition between students in all OPS middle schools. Participants read from a selected book list and meet weekly after school to discuss the books. Competition takes place in March. This is a wonderful club for avid readers.

Intramural competition stressing research and speaking skills.



Jazz Band
Students must audition for this select musical ensemble. Jazz band performs at many school functions as well as other community events.

Junior National Honor Society

Students who received a 3.5 Grade Point Average all 4 quarters as a 7th grader and who did not receive any in school or out of school suspensions are eligible. They are inducted in the 8th grade.

Math/Science Club
Explores various math concepts often involving up-to-date technology, use of manipulatives, speakers, and field trips.

Curricular Activities

Show Choir
Students audition and perform for this unique choral experience. Students perform for elementary schools and our Adopt-A-School partners.

 The purpose of the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Club is to promote personal growth and leadership development. The FCS club is similar to Family Careers Community and Leaders of America (FCCLA) clubs ran in local and national high schools.  Past Monroe projects have included the creation and donation of baby bibs and blankets to a local child care center. In addition to sewing projects, FCS club has prepared international foods. FCS Club is open to all Monroe students who are in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 G.P.A.
Industrial Technology
 The Tech Club focuses on woodwork and technology as they apply to everyday life. Students participate in projects ranging from the creation of cd-dial clocks, to building simple circuits. This year Tech Club will create clocks in the Spring.  Industrial Tech club is open to all students who attend Monroe. Don’t miss out. See Mrs. Lemons
