Welcome from the Monroe Middle School Administrative Team!

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year.  At Monroe we live by the 4’B’s in everything that we do.  Our mission is to be responsible, be respectful, be safe and be your best in the classroom and life.  Monroe Middle School is committed to creating an inclusive environment that collaboratively develops resilient achievers to become civic and global contributors in society.  In order for us to live out our mission and vision for all of our students we have worked with our governing bodies to establish the student handbook & code of conduct that we expect and uphold with all of our students.  It is our expectation that students know the contents within our handbook/code of conduct and follow them daily.  When we strive to be our best, be safe, be respectful and be responsible we will establish a safe and welcoming environment for everyone so learning can take place to provide all our students with the best possible education.

We look forward to working collaboratively with all our families this school year and thank you for choosing Monroe Middle School.

Mr. Santos

Odell Santos
Monroe Middle School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Odell Santos as the new Dean of Students. Mr. Santos brings over 15 years of experience at all levels of Education. Most recently, as the Activities Director at South Sioux City High School where he resides with his wife Sarah and their two children Jonah (12) and Jocelyn (10). His passion for education has assisted in empowering and motivating the next generation of citizens in California and Nebraska. He is now excited about the opportunity to continue to empower and motivate students at Monroe Middle School.

Mr. Santos began his career after the completion of his bachelor’s degree at Wayne State as the interim director of the Multicultural Center and distance learning Spanish teacher. With his commitment to being a lifelong learner he pursued double masters degrees in Sports Administration (‘02) and Secondary Administration (‘05) with Wayne State College.

Upon completion of his master’s programs Mr. Santos and his wife moved to California. His experience at Steve Garvey Jr High, within the Lindsay Unified School District, ignited a passion to engage in the education of Middle School students. After several years in California, Odell and Sarah knew Nebraska was where they wanted to raise their children. Upon returning to Nebraska, Mr. Santos embraced his passion for all students and has held positions as an assistant principal, principal and most recently activities director. It’s these experiences along with his work ethic and being bilingual that have developed many of his beliefs and values and have further reinforced his desire to be part of the Middle School team at Monroe.

Mr. Santos: “I’m excited about being the Dean of Students at Monroe MS for many reasons. The two main reasons are having the opportunity to be a part of a quality middle school team of Administrators and Staff and being able to continue to empower and motivate students every day. I also understand that core values guide and govern how we work together. Two core values that I will continue to support at Monroe Middle School are Teamwork and Excellence. I am looking forward to working collaboratively in the pursuit of achieving goals with the highest quality for the Mustangs. I also know that success is established through commitment to student excellence and building positive relationships is critical. I’m excited to be part of Monroe Middle school. Go Mustangs!”
