Meet Your Team Teachers

Christina Atkins

Hi! Welcome to Math 8A! My name is Christina Atkins. This is my first year at Monroe and I am excited to be here, with you. Last year I was at Bryan High school and the 10 years before that I was a substitute teacher for OPS, so you might have seen me around at other schools. I am originally from Colorado, but I've lived here in Omaha for 19 years! I went to Grace University for my Bachelor's degree and University of Phoenix for my Master's degree. A few fun facts about me: I love singing, purple is my favorite color, I think hippos are the most awesome and cutest creatures ever (especially Fiona the hippo, at the Cincinnati Zoo!), I love traveling, and I speak 3 languages: English, German, and Spanish.

Mr. Bahr

Hi, my name is Robert Bahr.  I am the 8A science teacher/ Head Football coach, assistant wrestling coach as well as assistant Robotics coach.  All of my children are grown, but still have my two dogs at home with me!!  I grew up in Montana, spent 6 years in the Air force before starting my path to teaching.  I have been teaching for 22 years in all age groups.  I graduated with my bachelors in 1997 and my masters degree Special Ed/Behavior Disorders in 2014.  Truth and respect are the pillars in which my classroom setting is built on.

Matthew Myer

Hello, My name is Matthew Myer and I am the 8A resource teacher here at Monroe Middle School. I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for my Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Education. I will soon pursue my masters degree in the same area.  This is my 5th year teaching at Monroe, and my 11th year overall teaching resource.
The reason I love teaching resource is it gives me the opportunity to work with a wide range of students with varying abilities and backgrounds. It also allows me to provide instruction in more than one area of study. Resource teachers are expected to be well versed in multiple subjects.
I live in Omaha with my wife Mandy and my son Logan. We are expecting a newborn in December 2020 so that will make us a family of 4. My hobbies include Sports (Football mostly), video games (when I have time), working on cars and tinkering with electronics.

Pamela Hinson

Hi, my name is Pamela Hinson and I teach English Language Arts and Honors English Language Arts. I have a Bachelors in Studio Arts from University of Nebraska-Omaha, a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from College of Saint Mary, and a Master’s in Teaching, also from College of Saint Mary. When I am not in my classroom at Monroe, you can find me either in my art studio or teaching art in the community. I believe that the education of our youth is a collaborative effort between the students, the parents, and the teachers. For the student to academically and socially successful, everyone must do their part. I cannot educate you by myself. It truly takes a village.

Laura Haynes

My name is Ms. Haynes and I am the 8th grade counselor.  I have been a mustang for six years. I love coming to work everyday and consider my students as my kids.  I have two children of my own, Lenox (12) and Zoe (8), and a dog named Murphy.  My favorite things are drinking coffee, taking care of plants, and watching my son play basketball.  I look forward to this year as I send my group of 8th graders off to high school after three amazing years together where we learned from each other, grew together, laughed, cried and went through ups and downs.  This year is going to give us new experiences but we will get through it together because we are a FAMILY!

Brandie Hollingsworth

"Failure Is Success, If We Learn from It!" My name is Brandie Hollingsworth and I teach 8th grade English Language Arts. When you step into the door of my classroom we are officially family. As a family, I believe it is important for us to show each other compassion, kindness, respect, and patience. My goal, as your teacher, is to help you grow as a learner and a leader.

Stephanie Vodehnal

Hi.  My name is Ms. Vodehnal, and I am excited to be an assistant principal at Monroe.   I have been an assistant principal in the Omaha Public Schools since 2003.  As the data administrator, I want to insure that each student achieves at their highest academic potential.   I believe that all Monroe Mustangs should be responsible, be respectful, be safe and be your best.  In my spare time, I enjoy walking, watching sports, and spending time with my family and friends.  This is going to be a great school year!
