SCIENCE OLYMPIAD HOME

Welcome to Monroe Middle Schools Science Olympiad Page

Science Olympiad is an organization that is dedicated to improving Science education across the country.   Science Olympiad is the largest multi-discipline team science competition in the United States.  The goals of the Science Olympiad competition are:  to bring science to life, to show how science works, to emphasize problem solving aspects of science and the understanding of science concepts, to develop teamwork and cooperative learning strategies among students, to make science education more exciting, and to promote high levels of achievement and a commitment to excellence. (adapted from soinc.org)

Students will be working as a team and in pairs as they prepare for the competition.  Students have the opportunity to choose and compete in a maximum of 4 events.  Students will then build, study, research, and problem solve as they prepare for their event.  Students will be provided with all materials necessary to help them be successful in their event.  It is important that students attend the Science Olympiad meetings after school.  During the SO meetings students are given time and assistance to help them to prepare for the competition.

Please check this page often for updates about anything Science Olympiad.  We look forward to a successful and fun - filled year!
